Hotel HVAC Room Noise Reduction Project
Technical Challenges
Roof-top AC unit noise disturbs top-floor guest rest; frequent complaints at night.
Solutions
Custom soundproof room with silencing louver ventilation system, installed on a vibration-damping base.
Implementation Results
Room noise reduced from 52dB to 35dB, meeting national hotel acoustic standards.
Project Background
This five-star hotel is located in the bustling city center. The roof is equipped with 6 large central air conditioning units. During operation, mid-to-high frequency noise generated by these units propagates through the building structure, severely impacting the comfort of guests staying in the luxury suites on the top floor and resulting in a persistently high rate of nighttime complaints.
Technical Details
- Acoustic enclosure dimensions: Customized to the unit's outer profile; covers 12 sqm per unit.
- Acoustic insulation material: Galvanized steel + 5mm centrifugal glass wool + perforated aluminum panel finish
- Sound Insulation Rating: ≥30 dB (A-weighted)
- Ventilation system: Sound-attenuating louvers for intake and exhaust, providing airflow sufficient for unit heat dissipation.
- Vibration Damping: Dual-layer system with spring dampers and rubber pads
